For the costumes, we decided that Charlotte Adams, played by Milly Shah, should wear a purple dress because the title of the film is “False Indigo”. A False Indigo is a poisonous flower, which is represented through the character Charlotte Adams, because she seems innocent, sweet and kind (like a flower), but in reality, she is evil and dangerous (like a poisonous flower). Therefore, by wearing a purple dress, the audience can understand the link between the character and the film title. We decided to use a dress because the character is young, and it is common for many younger children to wear dresses, which makes the costume more realistic to what a child would wear in real life.

For William Adams’ costume, we decided he should wear dark clothing, such as black and grey, to represent the scary mood and atmosphere of the film opening. The dark clothing also fits with the genre of the film because it is a horror. Therefore, it allows the audience to understand the link between the genre of the film and the costumes and the clothing reminds the viewers of the genre. Furthermore, we decided that he should wear jeans and a hoodie because it is casual and it is typical clothing for a teenager and William Adams is aged 15.
